Character Analysis Made Easy!

As we navigate the fun of the holiday season, I am always working to finish up the last pages of our latest novel unit in order to bring our hard work to a close and start fresh in January upon our return from our winter break. This can be a tricky time, but with "stick-to-it-iveness" and engaging work, we can do ANYTHING! 

One of my favorite beginning and end of novel focuses is character analysis.  As 6th graders, my students are expected to describe how a particular story's or drama's plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.(RL. 6.3) While this seems like a fairly simple concept, my students can struggle with determining how a character changes based on specific events from the story.  So here is how I help them grasp this concept.
