As the school year comes to an end, we are always looking for something fun to do. Our kids are restless, and so are we. We have taught the curriculum, and testing is over. What can we do with our students to make the end of the year fun and ensure learning at the same time?
Play games! I love playing games with my students and listening to them as they remember what they have learned all along. Here are some games we play year after year!
We go "old school" playing games I made years ago by hand with file folders. I have tons of these I made one summer before I had kids. They LOVE these! This one is a Hopping Frog game with word features on it.
We play games to help with fluency, such as my Ladybug Sight Word Phrases. My students love this one, and we play it many different ways ~ Slap, Bang, or just reading the cards to see who gets the most. In this version, the students have to use the phrase to make one of the sentences types.
And since butterflies should be out soon, we also enjoy reviewing compound words with these fun Compound Word match ups. They are self correcting, so the kids really enjoy it.
So, make the end of your year fun! If you want to look at some of my other fun games and activities, you can click on the pictures below to check them out!
And here is a fun freebie for you and your students to enjoy!
Enjoy the rest of your year!
